Thresholds

by eloisehendy

I forgive you.

I forgave you when I gave you

The key to my citadel

When I spread my arms on the threshold

And welcomed you in.

We are human.

We are beastly.

We are no different from the rest.

The mass of the world I escaped in your arms

There is no escape.

We are in it and of it.

And there is no one watching.

Or playing a game with our souls.

Its only us here, you and me

And the world

And I need you.

The threshold is one way

I gave up and gave in and give you

All I can

Carry me over.
